A filmmaker's association with an actor often extends beyond their work on a film, with gestures of appreciation adding to their camaraderie off screen. Sivakarthikeyan appears to have made one such gesture towards his upcoming film's director, Ramkumar Balakrishnan.
The actor, who is currently shooting for his next film, tentatively titled SK27, surprised Ramkumar by gifting him the latest iPhone. The director shared pictures of the gift on his X handle on Monday and thanked the actor for the gesture. “Got a loveable surprise from @Siva_Kartikeyan anna. Thanks for the gift na. Really means a lot!” he wrote, along with the hashtag #SK27.
The upcoming film marks Ramkumar's first collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan. The project began with a traditional pooja ceremony in Chennai on September 25 and is being produced by Sathya Jyothi Films. While the makers have not yet announced its official title, it is being referred to as SK27.
Kayadu Lohar, who gained wider recognition through her performances in Dragon and Immortal, plays the female lead opposite Sivakarthikeyan. Comedians Sudhakar and VTV Ganesh are also part of the cast. George Maryan and Babloo Prithviraj are reportedly set to play important roles, although their casting has not been officially announced.
On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Om Prakash and editing by Kalaivanan, who previously worked on Sivakarthikeyan's Amaran. Praveen Raja is designing the costumes, while Steven Kumar is handling the stunt choreography.
Ramkumar Balakrishnan made his directorial debut with Parking, starring Harish Kalyan, which received critical acclaim and won three honours at the 71st National Film Awards, including Best Screenplay and Best Tamil Feature Film. The director is now set to collaborate with Sivakarthikeyan on his second feature film.
