Balakrishnan, who directed Kamaraj, a biopic on the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, recently made an announcement that he would be directing an MGR biopic. Earlier, it was said that Sathyaraj will play the matinee idol on screen, but now word has it that he may not be a part of the project after all.

However, the makers continue to plan the launch of the biopic in the city, and Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy will reportedly be inaugurating the event. A host of celebrities are expected to attend the ceremony. Chembur Jayaraj has written the script of the biopic which will trace MGR’s life and how he spearheaded the Dravidian movement, which eventually led to him becoming something of a demigod.

The film is being produced by Ramana Communications.
