Tom Cruise's injury halts MI-6 production

The actor hurt himself while shooting a stunt sequence for the film earlier this week

Tom Cruise, who suffered an injury during filming of Mission: Impossible 6, is being given time to recover, thereby halting the production for around six weeks to three months.

According to Paramount Pictures and various sources associated with the project, Cruise hurt himself doing stunt work for the film last weekend and broke his ankle. He may also have hurt his hip.

He was scheduled to see his doctor this week, say sources, after which the studio will determine how long the shooting will be delayed.

In a statement, officials at Paramount said, "During production on the latest Mission: Impossible film, Tom Cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt. Production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery, but the film remains on schedule to open July 27, 2018. Tom wants to thank you all for your concern and support, and can't wait to share the film with everyone next summer."

One person affiliated with the film suggested that the production could still wrap on time if the focus is put on post-production elements for now and the scenes with Cruise are left for the end of the shoot.
