Audiences have been making comparisons about the acting styles of Nivin Pauly and Mohanlal for a long time now. Nivin's own co-stars have talked about how the actor's charm, especially in comic roles, appeal to the masses, a bit like the legendary actor's persona. However, Nivin dismissed the comparisons and asked people not to make these parallels.
Speaking to the press and media ahead of the release of his upcoming political film Prathichaya, with director B Unnikrishnan, Nivin said, "We should not make such comparisons. Lalettan is Lalettan; he is unparalleled."
Nivin Pauly added that he takes a casual approach towards acting and that he has not learnt it from a school. "I am someone who has treaded the paths that my directors have taken me along, acting as my guides. Therefore, I treat it casually."
Nivin continued, "I do not prepare extensively or learn by dialogues by heart the day before shoot. I just go to the set, read the script, and do what I feel is right, knowing that a director is there to correct me if I make a mistake." Interestingly, Nivin's approach, which involves a lack of extensive preparation, is similar to Mohanlal's.
Nivin added that he would understand his director's vision after working on a project for a few days and fall in line with it gradually. "Once that is fixed, I do not take much tension, to be honest," Nivin said about his working style.
Nivin's comments not long after he expressed his desire to reunite with Mohanlal after 2018's Kayamkulam Kochunni with a film similar to C Premkumar's 2024 film Meiyazhagan, starring Karthi and Arvind Swamy.
Meanwhile, Nivin is waiting for the release of Prathichaya, which is slated for March 26, Thursday. Beyond Prathichaya, his upcoming films include Benz, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, Dear Students, and Shekhara Varma Rajavu.
