Maniyanpilla Raju arrested for hit-and-run incident in Thiruvananthapuram

Law enforcement recorded the actor's arrest, and he is being medically examined

According to reports, actor Maniyanpilla Raju's car hit a motorbike, causing serious injuries to two youngsters, in Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvananthapuram, on Thursday night. The actor has now been arrested for his alleged involvement in what is being described as a hit-and-run incident. Police stated that about 9:30 pm on Thursday, a car that is allegedly connected to the actor collided, with significant force, with a motorbike from Royal Enfield that was carrying two youngsters. They are identified as Nivedith Krishna and Sooraj, both 20-year-old, hailing from the state capital.

Police revealed that Maniyanpilla Raju appeared at the Museum Police Station and said that he was behind the wheel at the time of the incident. Reportedly, the actor fled the accident scene because of his health following chikungunya and his fear. Reports also say that he did not stop his car to get to his spouse, who was alone at home.

Law enforcement recorded the actor's arrest, and he is being medically examined at the time of writing this.

The accident caused shoulder and leg fractures to Sooraj, whereas it led to leg and head injures to Nivedith. Both have been undergoing treatment at a local private hospital.

Meanwhile, police identified KL 01 CJ 0004 as the registration number of the car concerned and found that it is registered in Maniyanpilla Raju's name.

Accordingly, law enforcement has registered a case as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 281 (rash or negligent driving on a public way endangering human life) and Section 125(a) (endangering the life or personal safety of others, with potential imprisonment for hurt) as well as the Motor Vehicles Act Sections 134(A) and 134(B). They have started an investigation into the incident.
