The Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court in Kakkanad has issued a summons to actor Unni Mukundan in connection with an assault complaint filed by his former manager. The court has directed the actor to appear in person on October 27.

The case stems from a complaint lodged by Vipin Kumar, a resident of Changanassery in Kottayam district, who alleged that Unni physically assaulted him during a dispute linked to a social media post. Police at Infopark, Kakkanad, Kochi registered the case and subsequently filed a chargesheet before the court.

While the initial First Information Report mentioned that Vipin was slapped and threatened, the chargesheet concluded that there was no conclusive evidence to support the claim of physical assault. The offences cited in the case are bailable, meaning the Marco actor is expected to apply for bail when he appears before the court.

Earlier this year, Unni had approached the Ernakulam District Court with an anticipatory bail plea. The court disposed of the petition, noting that the sections invoked were bailable and directed police to continue their investigation.

The latest summons advances the case to the next stage of proceedings, requiring Unni’s personal presence.

The development follows closely on the announcement of Unni's role as Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming biopic Maa Vande.
