Vipin Kumar V, a professional manager and digital consultant, has filed a complaint with Kakkanad Infopark Police in Kochi, accusing Marco actor Unni Mukundan of physical assault and issuing death threats. In his statement, Vipin said he has been Unni’s professional manager for six years and has worked in PR for numerous other Malayalam stars over the past 18 years. He alleges that during his time with Unni, he was subjected to ongoing mental harassment, similar to what others faced before quitting.
Vipin stated that while Marco was a major success for Unni, his next film Get-Set Baby was a “colossal flop”, leading to frustration. He claimed that Unni’s relations with the film’s makers and female lead soured, affecting him professionally. A few weeks back, Unni announced his directorial debut project, which was initially backed by Sree Gokulam Movies. However, sometime later, Sree Gokulam Movies withdrew their support for the project, a move that, according to Vipin, left Unni shocked. Vipin also alleged that Unni tried to pressure another producer to cast him in a new project that was about to begin shooting with a different prominent star. When that did not happen, Unni verbally abused both him and the producer.
Vipin further said Unni became enraged when he posted a positive social media review for the recently released film Narivetta, starring Tovino Thomas. That same day, Unni told him he was no longer his manager, to which Vipin agreed. However, on the morning of the incident, Unni called him to the basement parking area of his DLF Newton Heights complex in Kakkanad, refused to meet elsewhere, and assaulted him. Vipin claimed that Unni broke his sunglasses, a gift from another actor with whom Unni has a strained relationship and which Vipin says Unni knew about. After breaking the sunglasses, Unni struck Vipin on the chin and tried to continue the assault, even chasing him after he managed to escape. The attack was stopped only when another flat owner intervened. Unni allegedly threatened to kill Vipin if he was seen again. Vipin also stated Unni has a history of similar violent incidents.
Kakkanad Infopark Police registered a case based on the complaint filed and have initiated an investigation against Unni. Vipin requested police protection and appropriate legal action against Unni, citing concerns for his safety and property. He has also filed complaints with The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) and The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) against the actor.
