The Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, written and directed by Dominic Arun, has achieved yet another milestone, becoming the most-watched Malayalam film ever in the United Arab Emirates. The makers announced the development on Monday through their official social media handles. The film has also reportedly emerged as the all-time second-highest South Indian movie in the UAE admissions, just behind SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.

The accomplishment further strengthens Lokah’s dominant run at the global box office. The film recently crossed the ₹300 crore mark worldwide, setting a new benchmark for Malayalam cinema. Earlier, the film also overtook Mohanlal-Prithviraj Sukumaran's L2: Empuraan to become the industry’s highest-grossing film.

Released on August 28 for Onam, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has been celebrated for its ambitious storytelling, visual grandeur and strong emotional core. The film follows Chandra, played by Kalyani, an ageless woman with extraordinary powers whose tranquil life unravels when dark forces discover her secret. Also starring Naslen, Sandy, Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas, the film has cinematography by Nimish Ravi, music by Jakes Bejoy, editing by Chaman Chakko and production design by Banglan.

With this latest record in the UAE and growing anticipation for the sequel centred on Tovino’s character Chathan/Michael, Lokah continues to establish itself as a landmark moment for Malayalam cinema.
