Kannada actor Shivaram dies at the age of 83

Popular Kannada actor Shivaram passed away in a private hospital in Bengaluru on Saturday, December 4. The actor was 83 years old. 

According to media reports, the actor had met with a car accident last week, but had not suffered major injuries. Later, on Tuesday, he collapsed in his house while performing puja, and was rushed to a private hospital where doctors revealed that he had suffered a  brain haemorrhage.

Reports added that the doctors who had diagnosed him had ruled out surgery due to his age in addition to other complications. His condition worsened on Saturday.

S Shivaram, born on January 28, 1938, began his career as an assistant director with filmmakers KR Seetharama Sastry, Puttanna Kanagal, and Singeetam Srinivasa Rao in 1958. A theatre artist, he first appeared as the second lead in the film, Beratha Jeeva (1965). He has acted in over 400 plus films in a career spanning over six decades.  The actor has shared screen space with legends like Dr Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan and Ambareesh. He later took to the small screen and acted in a number of serials. He has also acted in over  1000 plays. 

Shivaram is noted for his performance in films like  - NagarahavuShubhamangala, Upasane and Gejjepuje. His other films include - Lagna Patrike, MukthiDevara Gudi, Bhagyajyothi, Shravana Banthu, Geetha  Guru Shishyaru, Nagarhole, Sipayi Ramu, Hombisilu, Thaayi Saheba, Aptha Mithra, and Sajani to name a few

He has also acted in the lead role in Driver Hanumanthu and co-produced the film of his brother, S Ramanathan under the Rashi Brothers banner. The late actor also produced Rajinikanth's Dharma Durai in Tamil and a handful of films in Kannada. 

He also won Dr Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement award from the Karnataka Government.

Details about the actor's final rites and the funeral have not been revealed as of now.
