The makers of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll would release the final episodes of the anime franchise Demon Slayer as three films in theatres globally. The trilogy represents the completion and final arc of the anime show.

"Crunchyroll is thrilled to be able to bring this trilogy of films to fans on the big screen, and it promises to be one of the truly epic and consequential pop-cultural events of our time when it hits theaters,” stated Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini.

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll hold global rights to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, except for some territories in Asia, including Japan. The makers are yet to announce a release date.

It is based on Koyoharu Gotouge's manga series Demon Slayer, which comprises 23 volumes. The story starts when a boy named Tanjiro Kamado, whose family dies at the hands of a demon, becomes part of the Demon Slayer Corps in order to transform his younger sibling Nezuko from a demon into a human being.
