In an episode of Bigg Boss recently, Salman Khan criticised online trolls and the paparazzi for targeting celebrities, especially women, over their bodies and age. Without naming Katrina Kaif, he expressed disdain over women being unnecessarily trolled after pregnancy and said they naturally gain weight during the period.
"Why do you troll somebody who gets pregnant? Pregnant hone ke baad everyone puts on weight...Jab woh picturon mein wapas ajayegi toh woh fit ajayengi (After pregnancy everyone puts on weight, when she comes back in films, she will be fit again)...She wants to spend time with her family," Salman said.
The actor also responded to him being shamed for his age on social media. "Of course, I'm 60 years old, yaar," he said.
"You cannot be Maine Pyar Kiya all the time...this age has become (a topic) suddenly (log kehte hai) woh budha hogya hai...what do you want to troll....mujhe pata hai mujhe kaun kaun troll karta hai...hum react nahin krte ...humare fans club itne sare hai...humko kya farak padta hai...bolne do inko... (People say I have grown old. What exactly do you want to troll? I know who all troll me. I don’t react. I have a lot of fan clubs, I don’t care. Let them say what they have to" he added.
During the episode, Salman even removed his shirt and hat, wiped off his makeup on camera and challenged trolls to mock him.
Salman also spoke about how his brother Sohail and actor Varun Dhawan has been trolled for their appearance. “Pehle apne aap ko dekho, apne jism ko dekho uske baad karna yeh sab...apne maa baap ko dekho...uske baad troll karna...mazak udhana Sohail ke upar, Varun ke upar it's not done (First look at yourself, your body, look at your parents, then troll or mock Sohail or Varun," he said. "Jitna trolling karna hai kar lo, phate hue joote bhi pehnta hu... (Troll as much as you want. I even wear torn shoes)," Salman added.
The actor also hit out at the paparazzi for filming actresses from behind. "Paparazzi hip shots lete hain, taangon ke shots lete hain, aur agar peeche se shot mil jaaye toh woh bhi lete hain (Paparazzi take hip shots, leg shots, and if they get some shot from behind, they take that too). None of these heroines, none of the girls like it. Meri apni niece chal rahi hoti hai, toh peeche se uska shot le rahe hain aur caption daalte hain 'Pehchaano ye kaun hai?' (My own niece is going and they take a shot from behind with the caption, “Guess who it is?” I am saying all this to girls agar aisa ho toh ghoom ke ek chamat maaro aur bolo, 'Apni maa-behen ka shot le lo.’ (I am telling this to the girls, if this happens then slap them and ask them to take such shots of their mother or sister) Disgusting people! What is this mentality?" he said.
On the work front, Salman is awaiting the release of Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace. He was last seen in the Saudi-Arabian action film 7 Dogs.
