The makers of Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 3 found themselves in a soup, after being linked to a few news reports coming from New Delhi which claimed that over 800 girls went missing in the National Capital in the last one year. Many found the claims made in these reports to be suspicious, and alleged that it was part of promotions from Mardaani 3 makers.

Things escalated when Delhi Police issued a statement from their official X account, stating, “After following a few leads, we discovered that the hype around the surge in missing girls in Delhi is being pushed through paid promotion. Creating panic for monetary gains won't be tolerated, and we'll take strict action against such individuals.”

When asked about the controversy, a YRF spokesperson said, “Yash Raj Films is a 50 year old company founded on the core principles of being highly ethical and transparent. We strongly deny the accusations floating on social media that Mardaani 3’s promotional campaign has deliberately sensationalised a sensitive issue like this and we have immense trust in our authorities that they will share all facts and truths in due course of time.”

It is to be noted that Mardaani 3 dealt with the concept of child trafficking — the central premise revolves around a dangerous child trafficking racket, which the protagonist Shivaji (Rani Mukerji) has resolved to dismantle at any cost.
