Georgekutty's story is possibly not over yet. Producer Antony Perumbavoor has hinted that the Drishyam franchise could return for a fourth instalment, potentially giving Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph another opportunity to revisit one of Malayalam cinema's most popular characters.

Speaking at the Mazhavil Manorama Awards, Antony expressed confidence that there would be another chapter in the franchise. “There will definitely be a fourth part of Drishyam. I am saying this from my heart,” he said. His remarks come in the wake of Drishyam 3, which hit theatres on May 21 and left the Georgekutty saga open-ended, with Siddique and Asha Sharath's characters still seeking revenge for their son's death. At present, there is no official word from either Mohanlal or Jeethu confirming Drishyam 4.

The Drishyam franchise has been one of the most successful collaborations between Mohanlal and Jeethu, with Georgekutty becoming one of Indian cinema's most recognisable characters. The 2013 original, which followed an ordinary family man going to extraordinary lengths to protect his loved ones after a death, spawned Drishyam 2 and later Drishyam 3. The franchise has also travelled beyond Malayalam, with remakes in several Indian languages as well as Chinese and Korean.

Jeethu had previously spoken about Antony encouraging him to keep thinking about the next chapter after each instalment. However, the filmmaker has also maintained that another sequel should be built around a compelling story rather than simply the commercial success of the franchise.

Meanwhile, the Hindi remake of Drishyam 3, headlined by Ajay Devgn, is set to theatres on October 2.
