Filmmaker Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day hit theatres on Friday. The film marks Spielberg's return to alien-based cinema for the first time after 2005’s War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise. On Friday night, Cruise shared on social media that he watched the film with Colin Farrell and Dakota Fanning. It is worth noting that Farrell starred with Cruise in Spielberg's Minority Report, and Fanning played Cruise's onscreen daughter in War of the Worlds

In the caption, Cruise wrote, “Nothing better than a summer Spielberg movie night in a packed theater with friends! Steven thank you for all of the hours of joy that you have given us in the cinema!! It has been a great honor and pleasure to have worked with you and to call you my friend. Congratulations to my dear friend Emily and the entire group of artists that created this movie. You were superb. We all loved Disclosure Day!!”

The film stars Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow co-actor Emily Blunt as a television weather presenter, who uncovers a conspiracy involving alien presence on Earth and tries to solve the mystery behind it with a cybersecurity expert (Josh O'Connor). The film also stars Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson, among others.

It is said that Disclosure Day sums up Spielberg's longtime fascination with science fiction cinema. Drawing inspiration from speculation regarding reverse-engineered extraterrestrial technology and modern-day, congressional UAP testimonies, the film aims to marry elements of a suspense thriller with the customary child-like wonder of Spielberg cinema.

According to reports, the film is made on a budget of $115 million. Industry experts estimate that it will have to earn $300 million globally to recover the production cost. Worldwide opening weekend projections for the film hover around $65 million.
