Distributor Universal Pictures dropped a new featurette for its upcoming film The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan. In the clip, Nolan and his lead cast members spoke about the upcoming film. Nolan called it "a massive story" that presented him with "a really exciting challenge to take on." As reported before, Nolan shot the whole film with IMAX cameras in multiple locations, including Greece, Morocco, Scotland, Iceland, and Morocco, among others. On the other hand, Matt Damon described it as "the biggest movie" in his career with regard to its scale and ambition.
Based on Homer's eponymous poem, The Odyssey stars Damon in the titular role of The King of Ithaca and explores his arduous trip back home following the Trojan War.
Meanwhile, Zendaya said, "A great filmmaker like Christopher Nolan can do scope, action, and fantasy" while highlighting the heart, rawness, depth and humanity in his story. The film stars Zendaya as a Goddess named Athena.
On the other hand, Tom Holland said that the film is "an accumulation" of Nolan's entire skill set and experience and showcases the filmmaker at his absolute best. Holland stars in the film as Telemachus, the son of King Odysseus.
At the same time, Robert Pattinson said that the story in Homer's poem presented the perfect opportunity for Christopher Nolan. Pattinson said that he is "almost more excited to watch the movie" as compared to everyone else. "I just cannot wait to see what they have come up with," Pattinson added.
The Odyssey is slated for a July 17 release in theatres. After the release of its trailer recently, Nolan and his team faced some criticism from those who felt that the dialogues in it are not authentic enough for the period. It remains to be see whether Nolan would make any changes to the lines before the film's release.
