Universal Pictures dropped another trailer for director Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey earlier this Tuesday. The trailer promises another one of those visually stunning films from Nolan, the maker of The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, The Prestige, Interstellar, Tenet, Dunkirk, and Oppenheimer, among other films. While netizens are unanimous in their praise for the visuals in the The Odyssey trailer, some of them took exception to the dialogues in it.

According to them, it appears 'strange' or 'off' that the characters played by Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland use the words 'daddy' and 'dad' in the trailer. At one point in the The Odyssey trailer, Pattinson's character tells Holland's character, "You’re pining for a daddy you didn’t even know." Further, Holland's character tells him, "My dad is coming home."

The netizens argue that it would have sounded more appropriate for the period setting if the makers used the word 'father' instead of 'dad' in the dialogues. Multiple users called out the dialogues in the film and even wondered whether Nolan was right to cast an actor such as Holland for a crucial role in it. Some wondered whether it was a good idea to have American actors in the main roles as well. It is worth noting that the film is based on an ancient Greek poem, Odyssey, written by Homer.

The Odyssey explores King of Ithaca, Odysseus's (Matt Damon) treacherous journey back home following the Trojan War. Even as the trailer has its detractors, Christopher Nolan praised Holland's acting skills in a recent interview. Speaking on the The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the filmmaker described Holland as an 'amazing' actor and an 'incredible talent' and expressed his desire to collaborate with the actor again.
