Elizabeth Banks has taken on the role of a divorced woman in Apple TV's new comedy series. Liz Heldens (Will Trent) and Matt Ward (Best Medicine) are the creators of the series that comes from Disney's 20th Television.

Set to commence production in Los Angeles later this year, the series' logline reads, “Fresh off a messy divorce, Heidi (Banks) sets out to secure a lively second act for herself and her kids. But when she stumbles into coordinating her father’s retirement community sex dates, Heidi is forced into an unlikely alliance with his girlfriend’s perpetually single son.”

Banks will also executive produce the upcoming series, which is yet to be titled, under her Brownstone Productions banner. Showrunners are Heldens and Ward, who will also executive produce alongside Brownstone's Max Handelman and Krissy Wall; Jonathan Krisel, who will direct the pilot; Selfish Mermaid's Quinn Haberman; and Small Dog Picture Company's Jason Winder and Jon Radler. The show will become an addition to Apple TV's comedy slate, including The Studio, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Platonic, Stick and more.

Banks, who can now be seen in Peacock's The Miniature Wife, is also known for The Better Sister and Mrs America, a recurring role in Modern Family and 30 Rock, on the television front. The latter two works earned her an Emmy nomination, which she also received for hosting ABC's Press Your Luck game show. On the film front, she has Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass scheduled for July 10 and DreamQuil in post-production, in the pipeline.
