Netflix has officially announced that My Oxford Year, the upcoming romantic drama starring Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest, will premiere on August 1. Adapted from Julia Whelan’s bestselling novel, the film promises a heartwarming tale set against the picturesque backdrop of Oxford University.

Directed by The Inbetweeners' Iain Morris, the story follows Anna (Carson), a driven young American whose long-held dream of studying at Oxford is suddenly complicated when she meets a charismatic local (Mylchreest). What begins as a personal ambition soon becomes a life-altering experience for both.

The screenplay was adapted by Allison Burnett and Melissa Osborne from a story by Burnett. The supporting cast includes Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack, Harry Trevaldwyn, Esmé Kingdom, Nikhil Parmar, and Poppy Gilbert.

Produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Laura Quicksilver, and Isaac Klausner, the film also sees Carson serving as an executive producer alongside Caroline Levy, Laura Char Carson, Christopher Simon, Maggie Monteith, and Pete Harris. George Berman serves as co-producer.

My Oxford Year marks another milestone in Carson’s growing partnership with Netflix. She rose to global fame with 2022’s Purple Hearts. She also co-wrote and performed the soundtrack for that film, which still holds the record for the most-streamed Netflix original soundtrack. Following the film's success, Carson starred in the Netflix thriller Carry-On alongside Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman and recently led the romantic comedy The Life List.
