Netflix is adapting Julia Whelan's popular novel My Oxford Year into a feature film which will star Sofia Carson (Purple Hearts) and Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte) in lead roles. Iain Morris, who has previously helmed My Inbetweeners will direct the upcoming adaptation which Temple Hill backs.

According to Netflix, the film will revolve around, "Anna, an ambitious young American, who sets out for Oxford University to fulfil a childhood dream only to meet a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives."

Allison Burnett has penned the original draft for the film adaptation of My Oxford Year, while Savion Einstein is handling revisions. Laura Quicksilver and George Berman are overseeing production while Caroline Levy is executive producing.

Carson's Purple Hearts was also a collaboration with Netflix. She not only starred in the film but also served as executive producer and co-wrote and performed the film’s original soundtrack. Her second collaboration with Netflix came with Carry-On, in which she starred alongside Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman. She is also set to headline the upcoming rom-com on Netflix, The Life List from writer-director Adam Brooks.

Apart from Queen Charlotte, Mylchreest has also featured in the Netflix series The Sandman.
