Anne Hathaway is stepping back into the stylish shoes of Andy Sachs, nearly two decades after she first walked into the Runway office. The Oscar-winning actor shared a striking first-look image from The Devil Wears Prada 2, captioned simply: “Andy Sachs 2025.” The snapshot, posted to social media alongside an update from 20th Century Studios, arrives as filming for the highly anticipated sequel is now underway.
Hathaway is reuniting with original castmates Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, while director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna also return to the franchise. In the 2006 classic, Hathaway’s character Andy was an aspiring journalist who found herself in the intimidating world of fashion as assistant to the formidable Miranda Priestly (Streep), editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. By the film’s end, Andy had left behind the gloss and grit of the magazine world for a new beginning at a New York newspaper.
While official plot details remain under wraps, the sequel reportedly explores Miranda’s struggle to remain relevant as print media declines. The once-unshakeable editor-in-chief now finds herself in need of advertising support from luxury brands—setting up a clash with Blunt’s character, now a powerful executive holding the purse strings.
Joining the original stars is a fresh ensemble that includes Kenneth Branagh, set to play Miranda’s husband, as well as Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Pauline Chalamet in undisclosed roles. Broadway talents Helen J Shen and Conrad Ricamora, along with comedian Caleb Hearon, will also feature in the sequel. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman reprise their roles as Lily, Andy’s best friend, and the chairman of Runway’s parent company, respectively.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1, 2026, under the banners of 20th Century Studios and Disney. Until then, fans can revel in the return of Andy Sachs, this time, not just chasing fashion, but perhaps shaping it.
