Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 Trailer: Gwendoline Christie returns to Nevermore as death lurks in every corner

Netflix has dropped a major twist a few days after the release of Wednesday season 2: Part 1. Principal Weems aka Gwendoline Christie, presumed to be dead, made a special appearance at an event, confirming her full-fledged role in season 2. However, there's a catch. A few weeks ahead of its second part's release, it has been revealed that she will join Jenna Ortega, not as a living entity, but as her personal spirit guide, only visible to her eyes.

The trailer for season 2, dropped by the streamer on Thursday, hints at a power-packed engaging set of episodes focussing on the aftermath of Wednesday's near-death experience at Willow Hill mental health asylum. Tyler (Hunter Doohan) has escaped as the hyde and so has many other dangerous outcasts. Wednesday had exposed a secret outcast programme L.O.I.S run by Judi (Heather Matarazzo) who becomes an avian after being experimented on by her father. Dr. Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton) gets killed by the brain-eating zombie resurrected by Pugsley Addams in the initial episodes. Tyler has also killed his master Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci). Wednesday is running against the clock and has very little time before she can figure out the person behind the murky events happening against her. There's also an anonymous warning: "Beware, there will be a price to pay," and the camera pans to an Addams headstone, hinting at a death in the family.

Speaking about her return, Christie said, "I was so thrilled to come back and work again with this wonderful cast and the magnificent Jenna Ortega and the rest of our brilliant cast." She further said, "I felt like I was returning to a group of friends who are all at the top of their game. It is such a pleasure for me to be a part of this emotional world, this imaginative world, and play the character of Larissa Weems, who I truly adore and really thought a lot about bringing into being."

"When we got into the writers room, we were determined to bring Gwen back," said co-creator and showrunner Miles Millar. "The audience has fallen in love with the Wednesday–Weems relationship...so we’re bringing her back in the second half of the season in a very special way that is as confrontational as it is delicious."

Slated for release on September 3, nearly a month after the first part's release, season 2's cast includes Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester Addams, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Christopher Lloyd as Professor Orloff, and Evie Templeton as Agnes DeMille, among others. It is yet to be known if Lady Gaga will make an appearance in the upcoming episodes
