Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever) has been cast in a significant recurring role in Lanterns, HBO’s drama series inspired by the Green Lantern DC comics. She joins the ensemble led by Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, and Kelly Macdonald, along with fellow recurring actor Garret Dillahunt.

Created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, the series revolves around John Stewart (played by Pierre), a fresh recruit, and seasoned Lantern Hal Jordan (portrayed by Chandler). The duo are intergalactic law enforcers who find themselves pulled into a dark, Earth-centric investigation involving a murder in America's heartland.

Jagannathan will portray Zoe, a character who exudes confidence and elegance in every setting, no matter how unconventional. Unflappable and shrewd, she holds her ground among the powerful men surrounding her. There's speculation that Zoe might become a romantic interest for John. Meanwhile, Macdonald’s character, Sheriff Kerry, is linked to Hal, while Dillahunt takes on the role of modern-day cowboy William Macon.

The eight-episode series is a collaboration between HBO, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Studios. Mundy leads as showrunner, with Lindelof and King serving as co-writers and executive producers. James Hawes is set to direct the first two episodes while also serving as an executive producer.

Jagannathan is currently a series regular on Hulu’s upcoming comedy series Deli Boys, produced by Onyx Collective. In addition to her popular role in the Netflix hit Never Have I Ever, she was recently seen in Apple’s ensemble film Wolfs.
