The Woman King to stream on Netflix from this date

Viola Davis-starrer The Woman King will be available for streaming on Netflix from February 16. The historical epic that tells the story of the African kingdom of Dahomey and its all-female warrior, The Agojie, features an all-black ensemble. The film received both critical acclaim as well as great box-office numbers. 

Written by Maria Bello and Dana Stevens, The Woman King is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. The plot follows army general Nanisca (Viola Davis) who takes efforts to train the women of her clan to fight off European invaders who are determined to destroy their way of life. The film has been critically acclaimed for some performances, story, historical depiction, production design, costumes and cinematography. 

Apart from Viola Davis, The Woman King stars Wanda Banda, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, Lethabo, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, John Boyega, Jordan Bolger, Jimmy Odukoya, Joel Mukadi, Masali Baduza, Jayme Lawson, Adrienne Warren, Siv Ngesi, and Angélique Kidjo among many others.
