Kaithi Teaser breakdown: An intriguing Karthi is on the run in a mysterious cat-and-mouse chase

Initial reports suggested that Kaithi was essentially a prison break drama, and the recently released visuals cement these speculations

The Kaithi teaser begins with a tracking shot of a well-lit highway. We see this stretch, and other such roads in varying lighting throughout the teaser of the film, which is about the happenings of a single night. An ominous Naren, as a police officer, spells out the impending dangers of this particular night to a battalion of policemen who are getting ready for what is clearly a pretty long day. On the other end, a bunch of henchmen are given the bounty to bump off someone. As Sam CS gives an exciting soundtrack to the silhouette of a towering personality, we clearly know who that someone is, don't we?

A search ensues for a partially handcuffed man driving a lorry, and the visuals in the teaser promise what seems to be a series of intense chase sequences. The locations seamlessly shift from a highway to a forest and a rundown police station, as we are gradually shown the magnitude of the chase, as the man faces one hurdle after the other. What are these hurdles? Who are the ones chasing him? Why is he running away from the cops?

Initial reports suggested that Kaithi was essentially a prison break drama, and the last visuals cement these speculations. You see a partially handcuffed Karthi gorging on a biriyani sitting in a police station. You hear walkie-talkies screaming out about the escape of the convict named Ghilli.

Though we can connect the dots on Karthi's name in the film, and the reason for him being partially handcuffed during the escape in a lorry, there are a lot more questions that are left unanswered. This is surely a good move for a teaser, and from what we've seen so far, I won't deny that I'm excited to see what's in store in this Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial.
