Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Peddi is all set to hit theatres on June 4. Ahead of its release, the makers have planned premiere shows in select locations, and the Andhra Pradesh government has approved a ticket price hike for both the premieres and the regular theatrical run.
According to the Government Order (GO) issued by the Andhra Pradesh government, the ticket price for premiere shows has been fixed at Rs 600, including GST. Additionally, from June 4 onwards, the government has permitted a ticket price increase of Rs 100 in single-screen theatres and Rs 125 in multiplexes for a period of ten days.
Apart from the ticket price hike, the government has also granted permission for a fifth show of the film. The order was issued by Andhra Pradesh Home Secretary Kumar Vishwajeet.
Peddi is being produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under the banner of Vriddhi Cinemas, while Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings are presenting the film. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film features music composed by legendary composer AR Rahman.
The film is one of the most expensive projects in recent times and is reportedly the highest-budget film in Ram Charan’s career.
As part of the promotional campaign, the team has already visited Mumbai, Bhopal, Bengaluru, and Delhi. They are now set to continue promotions in Vijayawada as well.
Interestingly, the Telangana government has not yet issued any order regarding a ticket price hike for the film. According to industry sources, the proposal is currently facing certain legal hurdles, and a decision may be taken once those issues are resolved.
Recently, the Telangana Exhibitors Association announced that it would not support a ticket price hike for Peddi. The association also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and various film industry bodies regarding the issue.
The film had also become the center of discussions over the proposed percentage-sharing system in Telangana theatres. However, following the intervention of Megastar Chiranjeevi, the implementation of the new system was postponed and is now expected to come into effect from July 3.
