Two prominent directors-turned-actors, Samuthirakani and Gautham Vasudev Menon, have come together for the film Carmeni Selvam. Pathway Productions recently unveiled the teaser of the Telugu version. Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli and Abhinaya play other key roles.

The teaser begins with a voiceover from Samuthirakani saying, “There are many ways to make money.” From there, different voices chime in with contradictory advice on overspending, taking bold loans, cryptocurrency bets, and even dubious shortcuts, offering a witty reflection of how money and success are viewed in modern society.

The teaser suggests that the story revolves around the financial needs and decisions that shape people’s lives — a theme that resonates strongly in today’s credit-based economy and EMI-driven lifestyle.

It also showcases Samuthirakani as a family man, with Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli playing his wife and a young son completing the family. In contrast, glimpses of him abroad, seemingly alone, raise questions about his journey. Gautham Vasudev Menon’s presence in an undisclosed role further adds to the intrigue, leaving audiences speculating about his importance in the story.

The teaser concludes with Samuthirakani saying, “If you want to be rich, learn to spend like a rich man. If you don’t have the money, borrow and spend.”

The crew includes Ram Chakri, who brings a fresh vision as both writer and director, and Yuvaraj Dakshan, whose cinematography delivers visuals as compelling as the story itself. The music is crafted by Music Cloud Technologies.

Carmeni Selvam is shaping up to be a film that could spark conversations among audiences. The makers’ confidence in the film reflects in their theatrical release strategy, positioning it as an engaging entertainer that blends family dynamics with contemporary reflections on money and lifestyle. The film is set to hit the screens on April 3.
