Samuthirakani and Gautham Vasudev Menon’s upcoming film Carmeni Selvam has added Abhinaya and Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli to its cast. While Lakshmipriyaa will be paired opposite Samuthirakani, Abhinaya will star alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon.
Backed by Arun Rangarajulu under the Pathway Productions banner, the film is directed by Ram Chakri and is billed as a fun-filled family entertainer with a mix of humour and sentiment.
Speaking about the film, Ram Chakri said in a press statement, “Carmeni Selvam is being made as a movie that audiences of all ages can enjoy. Selvam (Samuthirakani), who has been living a peaceful and calm life, suddenly develops a greed for money. As he starts running behind it, the events that happen in his life have been crafted into a screenplay filled with humour.”
The technical crew includes cinematographer Yuvaraj Dakshan, editors Jagan RV and Dinesh S, and production designer Shankar. The film also introduces a new concept called Music as a Service (MaaS), with Music Cloud Technologies scoring the music. Lyrics are by Mani Amuthavan, while Harish Karthik Z6 handles choreography. Swedhulekshmi S has designed costumes, with S Nagasathya as costumer. Varuun V has provided stills.
Sree Saravanan serves as the creative producer. The film, which has completed shooting and is currently in its post-production stage, is gearing up for a theatrical release this Deepavali.
Samuthirakani is awaiting the release of multiple films, including Dulquer Salmaan's Kaantha (September 12) and Dhanush's Idly Kadai (October 1). The actor is also a part of Baila, written and directed by K Veera Kumar.
On the other hand, Gautham Vasudev Menon last directed Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, starring Mammootty, which was released earlier this year. Up next, he will be seen in Vijay's Jana Nayagan, which is slated for release next year during Pongal.
Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli was last seen in Soppana Sundari alongside Aishwarya Rajesh. Abhinaya, is fresh off the release of Pani, and also has Mookuthi Amman 2 and Demonte Conly 3 in the pipeline.
