Ram Charan-starrer Peddi, which was released on June 4, has completed 12 days of its theatrical run. The film showed decent numbers during the weekend, especially on Saturday and Sunday, but witnessed a major drop once it entered Monday.
The film collected Rs 4.10 crore net from 4,164 shows across India on Day 12. With this, the film’s total India net collections have reached Rs 220.10 crore after 12 days, according to sacnilk.
As the producer recently admitted that the film’s overseas performance was disappointing, the Day 12 overseas collections also remained low. The film collected around Rs 35 lakh on Monday, taking its total overseas gross collection to Rs 51.85 crore. With this, Peddi has collected a worldwide gross of nearly Rs 312.81 crore after 12 days of its theatrical run, as per Sacnilk data. However, Jio Studios' data reveals that it has grossed over 393 crore worldwide.
According to the makers, Peddi was made on a budget of Rs 350 crore, and the film still has a long way to go to reach break even. Interestingly, the film is performing well in the Andhra region, but the collections in Telangana have not reached the expected level.
The producer had already accepted that the film did not perform as expected in the Hindi market and overseas. Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor played the lead roles, while Buchi Babu Sana directed the film. Venkata Satish Kilaru produced this high-budget project under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner.
The film was released on June 4 and premiered in the Telugu states along with several other locations. In the Telugu states, the premiere ticket price was fixed at Rs 600. The film also faced controversy regarding Janhvi Kapoor’s character, after which director Buchi Babu Sana issued a clarification and apology.
Ram Charan played Peddi, a character who fights to bring recognition to his village and its people. For the role, he enters a crossover sports journey involving cricket, wrestling, and marathon. Boman Irani, Shivarajkumar, Divyendu, and Jagapathi Babu played important roles in this sports-based period drama.
The director chose Vizianagaram, a coastal city in Andhra Pradesh, as the backdrop for the story, and the makers reportedly erected around 25 sets for the film.
