It is well known that director Venky Atluri is currently gearing up for the release of Suriya's Vishwanath And Sons. While discussions regarding the film are aplenty, fans are also eager to hear an update from the noted filmmaker on the sequel to his hit 2024 heist drama Lucky Baskhar, starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead.

Sharing details about the same, Venky Atluri, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, said, "I still need a couple of more years for that as I have two more commitments to fullfil. Lucky Baskhar 2 will be a huge responsibility which I want to write in many ways. May be in another two years, I will start writing for the sequel."

The Vaathi filmmaker also expressed his desire to make a Hindi and a Punjabi movie. "I also want to make a film centred on kids as we don't seem to have movies on them these days," he remarked.

Starring Meenakshi Chaudhary, Tinnu Anand, P. Sai Kumar, Ramki, Raghu Babu and others besides Dulquer, Lucky Baskhar follows a lower-middle-class man who begins engaging in financial scams after struggling to support his family while battling debt and humiliation. A critical and commercial success, the period film emerged as the most successful film in the actor's career, earning over Rs 100 crore at the box office.

Meanwhile, Vishwanath & Sons, which is is slated for an August 14 release in theatres worldwide, revolves around Suriya as Sanjay Vishwanath, an ace pistol shooter in his 40s, whose life is thrown into chaos when Maddy (Mamitha Baiju), a young woman in her 20s, falls in love with him.

Besides Suriya and Mamitha Biju, the film also stars Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Nasser, Sudha, Raghu Babu, Sunil Reddy, Bhavani Sri, Viva Harsha, Kaali Venkat, and George Maryan, among others. The film marks Venky Atluri's comeback to Tamil cinema after Dhanush's Vaathi released in 2023.
