The Ravi Teja-starrer Irumudi is showing strong box-office collections after completing its first week in theatres. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film was released on August 21, and the positive word of mouth from day one is clearly reflecting in its collections. Irumudi has emerged as one of the best-performing films in Ravi Teja’s career, both as a film and in terms of collections. Mythri Movie Makers produced this intense family drama.
On the seventh day, the film’s collections dropped slightly due to the release of the Yash-starrer Toxic on Wednesday, August 26. As Toxic took over some screens, the number of shows for Irumudi was reduced.
On Day 7, Irumudi collected a net of ₹6.90 crore across 2,400 shows in India. With this, the total India net collections stand at ₹92.15 crore, while the India gross has reached ₹106.95 crore. In the overseas market, the film collected ₹0.65 crore on Day 7, taking its total overseas gross to ₹17.90 crore. With these collections, Irumudi has grossed ₹124.85 crore worldwide after completing its first week.
The Day 7 collections saw a 32.4 per cent drop compared to Thursday’s net collection of ₹10.20 crore. Interestingly, the film’s Telugu version is contributing most of the collections. Though Irumudi was also released in Tamil, the Tamil version has not made a significant contribution to the overall collections.
Priya Bhavani Shankar played the female lead, while Baby Nakshatra appeared as Ravi Teja’s daughter. Swasika also played a key role in the family drama. A worldwide gross of nearly ₹125 crore in the first week is a significant achievement in Ravi Teja’s career, making Irumudi one of his biggest performers.
The film revolves around a drunken father, Trinadh, played by Ravi Teja, his wife Kaveri, played by Priya Bhavani Shankar, and their daughter Manemma, played by Baby Nakshatra. The bond between the father and daughter is at the heart of the story, and the emotional scenes between them have worked well with the audience.
Director Shiva Nirvana, known for his strength in emotional storytelling, has once again delivered an intense family drama with Irumudi. Along with the family emotions, he has also added a few thrilling moments to keep the narrative engaging. The film has worked well for the producers, director, lead actor and the young actors who played important roles. GV Prakash Kumar’s music, songs and background score are among the other highlights of this gripping drama.
