Actor Antony Varghese has been named a Celebrity Influencer for Kerala Sports. The actor himself made the announcement on Thursday. Taking to his Instagram handle, he expressed his gratitude to the Government of Kerala for appointing him as the influencer.
"Thank you, Kerala Government, for this love and recognition. Grateful to be appointed as a Celebrity Influencer for Kerala Sports and to be part of a state that celebrates sports and cinema with so much love," Antony Varghese wrote. The actor added, "A heartfelt thanks to V. D. Satheesan sir and O. J. Janeesh sir for making me part of this special moment."
The news comes a couple of days after Antony Varghese's birthday. The actor also shared pictures featuring him with Chief Minister VD Satheesan, as well as with OJ Janeesh, the Kerala Minister for Sports, Youth Welfare, Registration, and Archaeology, and former India footballer IM Vijayan.
Antony is a massive cricket and football enthusiast, and he participates in the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) as a Kerala Strikers team member. He also joins commoners in local cricket fields for pastime matches. Speaking of cricket, he recently played a cricketer in I'm Game, co-starring Dulquer Salmaan and directed by Nahas Hidayath. He filmed several batting scenes at Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram as part of the film. He is also regarded as the first Indian actor to receive a professional boxing license.
In a lead role, Antony was last seen in the big-budget film Kattalan. Director Paul George's action film set against the backdrop of ivory smuggling failed to make the necessary impact at the box office. Up next, he will be seen sharing screen space with Keerthy Suresh in a film titled Thottam.
