Allu Arjun deletes Independence Day post; here's why

Although Allu Arjun's post has since been deleted, screenshots of the graphic continue to circulate on social media

Allu Arjun has removed an Independence Day greeting from his social media account after eagle-eyed users pointed out that the Indian flag featured in the post did not have the Ashoka Chakra.

The actor had marked August 15 by sharing a graphic showing the Tricolour flying above the Red Fort, accompanied by the words “HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY”. However, while an Ashoka Chakra was visible in the background of the artwork, it was absent from the flag itself. The image also carried Allu Arjun’s personal logo.

The omission quickly became a talking point online, with several users criticising the actor for sharing an image that did not accurately depict the national flag. Although the post has since been deleted, screenshots of the graphic continue to circulate on social media.

Some users called for an apology rather than simply removing the post. “He should apologise to the entire India; just deleting the post will not work. Very shameful and childish act,” read one reaction. Another questioned the presence of the actor’s logo on the Red Fort, while others described the incident as a “lack of knowledge”. One user also remarked that the actor appeared not to know what the Indian national flag looks like.

The controversy comes as Allu Arjun is busy with his upcoming projects. The actor is currently working on Raaka, his collaboration with filmmaker Atlee. The big-budget project features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Mrunal Thakur.

Allu Arjun is also set to reunite with DC actor Lokesh Kanagaraj for AA23. The project, which marks Lokesh’s Telugu directorial debut, will have music by Anirudh Ravichander and is expected to commence production after Allu Arjun wraps up his commitments for Raaka.
