Simbu to play a major role in Jr NTR’s Devara 2: Reports

Jr NTR starrer Devara: Part 1, the period action-drama directed by Koratala Siva, completed 1 year of its release on September 27. On the occasion, the makers of the film unveiled a new poster for the sequel Devara 2. While there are no further updates from the team about the shooting plans, the makers are reportedly considering Tamil actor Silambarasan for a major role in the film.

The Devara 2 team reportedly locked their script a few weeks ago, which has incorporated a dynamic role alongwith Jr NTR’s protagonist, for which the team has approached Simbu. An official announcement from the makers is yet to be made, though.ntr

Simbu was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life, where he shared screen with Kamal Haasan for the first time. Jr NTR , who was last seen in War 2, is currently busy shooting for his film with Prashanth Neel, reportedly titled Dragon. The RRR actor will commence shoot for Devara 2 only after Dragon’s shoot concludes. 

It is be noted that in Devara: Part 1, Saif Ali Khan had played the role of antagonist, also making his Telugu film debut.  Produced under Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, Devara: Part 1 had opened to strong numbers at the ticket counters, but mixed reviews. The film grossed a total of Rs 428 crores at the box office worldwide, according to Sacnilk. The period action drama also starred Janhvi Kapoor and Prakash Raj among others.
