Chiranjeevi took to social media on Sunday to reflect on a landmark date in his career. Sharing a note, he wrote, “22 September 1978. I, known as ‘Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad,’ was introduced to you as ‘Chiranjeevi’ through the film Pranam Khareedu, and today marks the triumphant completion of 47 years.”

He further wrote about how people received him over time, “In this film, you breathed life into me as an actor, and as your elder brother, son, family member, and a megastar, you have always supported and loved me unconditionally. I will forever remain grateful to the Telugu cinema audience for this.”

Chiranjeevi also dedicated his accolades to his fans and Telugu audiences. He added, “Awards and honours I have received over these 47 years are not mine alone; they belong to all of you, bestowed upon me by you. I wish for this bond of love between us to continue forever in this way… With gratitude, yours, Chiranjeevi.”

The actor’s reference to Pranam Khareedu is a reminder of where it all began. Released in 1978 and directed by K Vasu, the film introduced him in a supporting role. While it was not a commercial milestone, it laid the foundation for a career that would go on to redefine Telugu popular cinema through the 1980s and 90s.

What followed were decades of hits that shaped Chiranjeevi’s stardom, from Khaidi and Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari to Indra and Tagore. His energetic dance style, action charisma and socially rooted dramas cemented his reputation.

Looking ahead, Chiranjeevi has a packed slate. Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu is lined up for Sankranthi 2026, and Vishwambhara is also gearing up for release. For fans, the Megastar’s 48th year in cinema is shaping up to be as busy as ever.
