On Thursday evening, the makers of recent animation blockbuster Mahavatar Narsimha announced the streaming date for their film. Mahavatar Narsimha will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday, September 19 at 12:30 pm IST.
Directed by Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Narsimha retold the mythological story about Prahlada, a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu and His father Hiranyakashipum — a mighty king and a staunch atheist — who is enraged by his son's unwavering faith.
The film, which had a theatrical release on July 25, surprised everyone with its massive box office figures right from its opening weekend. After a staggering success at domestic box office, the film was later released in multiple overseas territories. In August, the film crossed the much-coveted 300 crore figure at worldwide box office, a staggering feat for a non-franchise animation film with no stars.
Mahavatar Narsimha is the first in Hombale Films' ambitious Mahavatar Cinematic Universe which features a slate of animated films based on the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. The films will be released between 2025 and 2037. The next film in line is Mahavatar Parashuram, which is set for a 2027 release.
The film is presented by Hombale Films, backed by Kleem Productions and produced by Shilpa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai. The film features an original score by composer Sam CS while the screenplay is penned by Jayapurna Das and Rudra Pratap Ghosh.
