While Anushka Shetty has not been participating in on-ground promotional events for her upcoming film Ghaati, the Arundhati actor has been promoting it in her own methods. Recently, the Ghaati team released a phone call recording where Anushka’s Baahubali co-star Rana Daggubati briefly interacted with her about Ghaati and her career plans.

Talking about Ghaati, Anushka said, “If you keep its violence aspect aside, this is the right time for a film like Ghaati. The subject is so apt for present day. Marijuana is just the backdrop where the story unfolds. Its about a group of tribals, and how the world of drug smuggling affects their lives. It has come out very organically. When pushed to a corner, any victim takes their own path. This film is about how one such victim, my character Sheelavathu, chooses redemption and becomes a legend.”

Anushka, who had previously collaborated with Krish Jagarlamudi on Vedam (2010) said about her director, “Only he can give me such unique characters. Even in Vedam, it was a sensitive topic but the way he projected Saroja with innocence. It remains one of my finest characters.”

Talking about her career plans for near future, Anushka Shetty said, “Definitely, the plan is be selective and find good scripts. It started with Baahubali, this habit of being selective. Wherever I go, people have this question. However, starting from end of this year and beginning of next year, you will see more of me. Little more often. I will be consciously working towards being out there more.”

Also starring Vikram Prabhu, Ghaati marks only Anushka’s fourth film release since Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). Her previous film, Mrs Shetty Mr Polishetty, was a commercial success.
