We had reported a few weeks ago the makers of Baahubali are planning a grand re-release, merging the two films into a single 4-hour cut, on October 31. The re-release teaser of the film, which was attached to the US theatrical prints of War 2 and Coolie, has been drawing a lot of criticism from Prabhas fans, for its mention of ‘RRR’ as a calling card in the text supers. The criticism comes from the fact that Baahubali released 7 years before RRR.
On Thursday morning, however, Baahuabali producer Shobu Yarlagadda was quick to issue a clarification on the same. Taking to his X page, the Baahubali producer wrote, “Dear Prabhas and Baahubali fans! The teaser being played in the US theatres was cut to connect with the non-Indian audience as well. Hence, the text supers were designed that way.”
Shobu also announced that a different teaser cut, with a different text will be released next week. “We love Baahubali more than anyone! Jai Mahishmati!” the producer added on a concluding note.
The re-release single film cut for Baahubali will also reportedly feature unseen footage, which wasn’t a part of either of the two films, which released in 2015 and 2017. The film will also be released at IMAX screens worldwide.
Baahubali also completed 10 years of its release recently. The primary team of the film, including Rajamouli and Prabhas, had a reunion on the occasion.
SS Rajamouli is currently busy working on his next project with Mahesh Babu, tentatively titled SSMB29. The first glimpse of the film will be unveiled in November, the team recently announced. On the other hand, Prabhas’s next release is the horror-comedy The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi which also stars Malavika Mohanan and Niddhi Agerwal.
