There has been a lot of anticipation around Dacoit, the romantic action-thriller that will mark Adivi Sesh’s return in a leading role after more than 3 years. However, after being initially slated for Christmas release, the film was later postponed due to a delay in shoot because of Adivi Sesh’s on-set injuries. On Monday, Adivi Sesh provided an update on the new release plans for Dacoit

Taking to his X page, Adivi Sesh shared a new poster of Dacoit, penning, “We missed the Christmas release, but a festival release is fixed. Which festival? I will share tomorrow.” It is possible that Dacoit makers decide to go for a Sankranthi 2026 release, but not probable because of the existing multiple Telugu film releases for the same week, which will make it really difficult for Dacoit to register strong numbers. The release date for Dacoit will be announced tomorrow at 1.08pm.

The other films confirmed for Sankranthi release are The Raja Saab, Nara Nara Naduma Murari, Anaganaga Oka Raju, and Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu.

Directed by Shaneil Deo, the film also stars Mrunal Thakur, who plays a character entangled in a violent past and conflicted loyalties, and appears to be at the heart of a story driven by passion, betrayal, and revenge. Speaking about the character, the makers have previously hinted that Juliet forms the emotional anchor of this layered drama. The ‘Fire Glimpse’ teaser, which was released in May, gave a peak into their relationship alongside intense action sequences, including a shot of a train crashing into a prisoner van. The teaser also showed Anurag Kashyap, who makes his Telugu film debut, as a fierce police officer, adding further intrigue to the mix.

Dacoit is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and co-produced by Suniel Narang under Annapurna Studios. Music is composed by Bheems Ceciroleo. The film will be released simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, with dubbed versions in other languages, targeting a pan-India audience.
