Balakrishna starrer Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, that was initially scheduled for September release, will now arrive in theatres on December 5. The much-awaited first glimpse of the film was unveiled on Friday.

Akhanda 2 promises to be a quintessential Balakrishna entertainer, high on histrionics and outlandish action. Replete with a recurring musical cue of a roaring tiger, that has now come to be associated with Balakrishna’s on-screen persona, the teaser features the Daaku Maharaaj star warning a nemesis with his usual swagger, threatening him to keep his tone in check lest he triggers his violent streak.

Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam continues the saga that first saw Balakrishna don the fierce Aghora avatar in 2021’s blockbuster Akhanda. This time, the actor promises a bigger scale, with action set against the Himalayan backdrop and Aadhi Pinisetty stepping in as antagonist. Samyuktha plays the female lead, with Pragya Jaiswal and Harshaali Malhotra signed in key roles.

Bankrolled by 14 Reels Plus and presented by M Tejaswini Nandamuri, Akhanda 2 arrives with towering expectations given the legacy of Balayya–Boyapati collaborations, from Simha to Legend to Akhanda.

On Akhanda 2, Boyapati Srinu also reunites with Thaman S, who composed music for Balakrishna’s previous film Daaku Maharaaj. At an event earlier this year, Balakrishna had stated that the film is also being delayed because of Thaman’s other commitments, and hence the composer needed more time to do justice to Akhanda 2. This is Thaman’s fifth Telugu film album in 2025 after Game Changer, Daaku Maharaaj, They Call Him OG, and Telusu Kada.  The technical team includes C Ramprasad and Santoshh D Detakae co-helming cinematography, AS Prakash as the art director, and Tammiraju as the editor.

As of now, Akhanda 2 is the only major Telugu release lined up for December 5.  The makers are also planning a grand release for the film’s Hindi version.
