Music director SS Thaman has officially kicked off work on the background score for Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, the much-awaited sequel to the 2021 blockbuster starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the action entertainer is slated for a December 5 release across multiple languages.
Taking to social media, Thaman shared an update, revealing that the “Akhanda BGM sessions have begun.” The composer was seen collaborating with Pandit Shravan Mishra and Pandit Atul Mishra, who will lend their voices to powerful Sanskrit slokas featured in the score. “This one’s all about divine energy,” Thaman hinted, promising a soundscape steeped in spiritual grandeur and trademark mass beats.
Akhanda 2, as the title suggests, is expected to double down on the fiery mix of mysticism, action, and emotion that made Akhanda a hit. Balakrishna reprises his role as the fierce spiritual saviour, this time facing off against Aadhi Pinisetty, who plays the antagonist. Samyuktha takes on the female lead role, while Pragya Jaiswal and Harshaali Malhotra are also part of the ensemble.
Akhanda 2, produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner, and presented by Tejaswini Nandamuri, is being mounted on an impressive scale. Originally scheduled for a September 2025 release, the makers pushed it back to allow more time for extensive VFX and post-production.
