As per latest reports, Prabhas is all set to return in Hanu Raghavapudi’s upcoming period drama, which is said to be eyeing an Independence weekend 2026 release. While the team is yet to make an official announcement, industry buzz suggests that August 14, 2026 (Friday) has been tentatively locked for the film’s global debut.
The yet-untitled project rumoured to be called Fauji is said to be a sweeping romantic-action saga set in the pre-Independence era of the 1940s. True to Raghavapudi’s storytelling style, the film reportedly combines grandeur, nostalgia, and emotional depth, with Prabhas playing a soldier in the British Indian Army, whose journey intertwines with the freedom struggle.
With around 60% of the shoot already completed, the production is progressing at a measured but steady pace. Prabhas, who’s juggling The Raja Saab and this film simultaneously, has finished most of his schedule, with roughly 35 days of shoot still pending. The team has reportedly opted to hold back official promotions until after The Raja Saab hits theatres, to avoid splitting audience attention.
Fauji also marks the debut of Imanvi as the female lead, alongside an ensemble that includes Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Jaya Prada in pivotal roles. The music is being composed by Vishal Chandrashekhar, whose melodic work on Sita Ramam earned wide acclaim. Behind the camera is Sudeep Chatterjee, with Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao handling editing.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Fauji is said to be mounted on a massive Rs 400-crore budget, making it one of the most expensive Telugu productions currently in progress. Interestingly, reports hint that Hanu Raghavapudi is already considering a prequel set in the same world, a move that could expand the story into a cinematic universe.
Following The Raja Saab and Fauji, Prabhas will reportedly move on to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and later collaborate with Prasanth Varma. For now, fans can look forward to seeing Prabhas donning khaki, courage, and charisma when Fauji marches into cinemas in August 2026.
