Earlier today, Rashmika Mandanna took to Instagram to share an emotional note about her experience working on The Girlfriend, her upcoming film with co-star Dheekshith Shetty and director Rahul Ravindran. Sharing a video where Rahul discusses the aspects of the film that appeal to him on her Instagram Stories, Rashmika wrote, "The second I heard this script, I remember thinking I'd be an idiot to not be a part of this story. It's not a jolly story but it is an important story to be told!"

In the video, Rahul can be seen explaining the idea that he tries to convey with the film. The filmmaker said that the film offers insights about male-female relationships and that it would make them consider whether or not their choices as life partners are right for them.

"This man somehow created this and I am so proud and happy that I could be a part of it!" wrote Rashmika Mandanna. "Biggest hugs and shout out to this whole team! People like these are the ones who make me believe there is still some kindness left," the actor added.

Produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni under his namesake banner alongside Vidya Kopineedi, The Girlfriend is slated for a November 07 release in theatres. Besides Telugu, the film will also release in Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil. It also stars Rohini and Rao Ramesh.
