The makers of the Rashmika Mandanna starrer The Girlfriend have finally set a release date for their film. Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film is set to arrive in theatres on November 7.

The makers also released a special teaser to announce the release date. The teaser focuses on a conversation between the two protagonists (Rashmika and Dheekshith), where a casual lunch date becomes an opportunity for a self-introspective conversation about whether the two are right for each other. The teaser ends with both Rashmika and Dheekshith breaking the fourth wall as they look into the camera, announce the release date, and say, "Come to theatres. Let's talk."

The Girlfriend is produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Kopineedi under Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment. Meanwhile, Allu Aravind is onboard as the presenter. The film was officially announced exactly 2 years ago, in October 2023, and the shoot commenced in December 2023.

Veteran actors like Rao Ramesh and Rohini are part of the supporting cast. Hesham Abdul Wahab’s songs for the film have acquired considerable popularity online, esp. 'Em Jarugutundi.' In the technical team, The Girlfriend has cinematographer Krishnan Vasant, costume designer Shravya Varma, and production designers S. Ramakrishna and Mounika Nigoti on board. Veteran Chota K Prasad is the editor.

 The Girlfriend is being planned as a pan-India film, slated to release in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada as well.

Rahul Ravindran’s previous Telugu directorial was the Nagarjuna starrer Manmadhudu 2, which released in 2019. As an actor, his recent appearances include They Call Him OG and Jigra.

Rashmika Mandanna who was last seen in Kuberaa, also has a big Hindi release coming up with Thamma where she will be seen sharing screen with Ayushmann Khurrana and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Her upcoming projects also include Mysaa. Reportedly, the Pushpa 2 actor is also in talks for Vijay Deverakonda’s project with Ravi Kiran Kola, tentatively titled Rowdy Janardhan.
