The makers of The Girlfriend have unveiled the film’s second single, ‘Em Jarugutondi…,’ and it arrives like a gentle tide of emotion. Sung with depth by Chinmayi Sripada and composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, who also doubles up as the male singer, the track captures the quiet electricity of two people discovering love.

With its serene classical hues layered over rock and rhythmic beats, the song from The Girlfriend creates a mood that is both contemporary and timeless which makes it instantly hooking. Written by lyricist Rakendu Mouli, ‘Em Jarugutondi’ is released in all major pan-Indian languages, the single comes after the first track ‘Nadhive’ captured dreamy depth.

Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, The Girlfriend is produced jointly by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppinedi under Geetha Arts and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment, the film is presented by Allu Aravind.

The teaser, unveiled earlier on Rashmika’s birthday, offered a fleeting glimpse into the narrative, hinting at a layered, character-driven story without revealing the full plot. Rashmika takes the centre stage, while Dheekshith Shetty, last seen in Nani’s Dasara, plays the male lead.

The Girlfriend's technical team backing the project includes cinematographer Krishnan Vasant, costume designer Shravya Varma, and production designers S. Ramakrishna and Mounika Nigoti. For Rashmika, who was last seen in Kuberaa, the film adds another intriguing title to her slate of pan-Indian projects. The film’s release date is yet to be announced.
