Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 officially gets release date with Dussehra poster

The Boyapati Srinu and Balayya combo returns to the big screen this December

After a brief confirmation from Balakrishna at a recent public event, the makers of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam have finally locked in an official release date. The much-awaited sequel to Balakrishna’s 2021 blockbuster will storm cinemas on December 5, and to mark the occasion, the team unveiled a special Dussehra poster that is already setting social media ablaze.

The poster shows Balayya in his full dharmic-warrior mode, balanced on a single leg with a Trishul held aloft in a pose reminiscent of Lord Shiva. The image carries forward the fierce Aghora avatar that became a hit in the first instalment, but with an added gravitas that teases the sequel’s larger-than-life ambitions.

Directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam promises to expand the action universe that audiences lapped up in 2021. While Balayya returns as the spiritual saviour in an even more intense avatar, Aadhi Pinisetty joins the cast as the antagonist, raising expectations for a high-voltage face-off. Samyuktha has been roped in as the female lead, with Pragya Jaiswal and Harshaali Malhotra also playing key roles.

Akhanda 2, mounted on a massive scale, is being produced by 14 Reels Plus and presented by Tejaswini Nandamuri. With S Thaman back as music composer, after the roaring success of the first film’s soundtrack and his recent accolades with OG soundtrack, fans can expect yet another round of mass chartbusters.

Originally planned for a September 25 release, Akhanda 2 was pushed back to allow for additional VFX and post-production. Now, with the December date locked, anticipation is peaking once again.
