Fans expecting fireworks from the planned September 25 clash between Pawan Kalyan’s OG and Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 got the news recently that the Balayya starrer is postponed. Speaking at a brief interaction in his own town, Nimmakuru, Balayya stated a reason for the delay and also confirmed release window, as we reported earlier.
The reason, he explained, was music director Thaman’s need for more time. “The time allotted for Thaman wasn’t sufficient. During Akhanda’s release, sound woofers blasted. Akhanda 2 will be 50 times bigger in December. We will reveal the exact release date soon,” he told the media.
The delay, while disappointing for some, gives Akhanda 2 breathing space to complete post production and also neatly avoids direct competition with OG. Reports suggest December 5 is the new target date, especially since Prabhas’ The Raja Saab has shifted to January 2026.
Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam continues the saga that first saw Balakrishna don the fierce Aghora avatar in 2021’s blockbuster Akhanda. This time, the actor promises even more scale, with action set against the Himalayan backdrop and Aadhi Pinisetty stepping in as antagonist. Samyuktha plays the female lead, with Pragya Jaiswal and Harshaali Malhotra in key roles.
The project, bankrolled by 14 Reels Plus and presented by M Tejaswini Nandamuri, arrives with towering expectations given the legacy of Balayya–Boyapati collaborations, from Simha to Legend to Akhanda.
