Small films have been making big waves in Tollywood this year, and the latest example is Raju Weds Rambai. Despite multiple releases last week, and strong competition especially from Priyadarshi-Anandhi starrer Premante, this modestly made film emerged as the clear winner.

According to a report from Sacnilk, the film grossed an impressive ₹7.15 crore on its opening weekend, already becoming a hugely profitable venture for everyone on board. The film continued its steady box office run on Monday, earning Rs 1.31 (gross) at domestic box office, registering a decline of 47 percent from Sunday collections which is rather impressive.

Produced by Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi, Raju Weds Rambai was released through Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works. “Raju Weds Rambai is performing far better than what we anticipated. Some films don’t require us to discuss numbers, but this one truly deserves the recognition,” said producer and distributor Bunny Vas at a recent event. He also noted that single screens in Telangana are outperforming multiplexes.

Traditionally, Telangana-backdrop films haven’t performed well in the Andhra region, and this film too opened dull in the first two days. However, collections picked up from the third day. On Sunday, the film registered strong numbers in Andhra — Vizag ₹10 lakh, East Godavari ₹9 lakh, Krishna ₹12 lakh, and Guntur ₹13 lakh. Ceded territory is also performing decently, said Bunny Vas.

“Just like Little Hearts, this film is performing exceptionally well in C-centers. With iBomma shutting down, our box-office numbers have gone up. The ₹99 ticket strategy also worked strongly in our favour. Initially, many exhibitors and distributors were unsure, but now nearly 70% have accepted this pricing model,” explained Bunny Vasu. “If the film touches ₹50 crore, I won’t be surprised,” he added.

Featuring newcomers Akhil Raj and Tejaswi Rao in the lead roles, the film marks the directorial debut of Saailu Kampati. The story is inspired by a real-life incident that took place near Illendu, Telangana. From audiences to critics, the film is receiving widespread appreciation for its heart-touching love story, emotional depth, and rooted storytelling.
