Director Saailu Kaampati, who earlier created a stir with a bold statement during the pre-release event of Raju Weds Rambai, has now clarified and apologised for his words. At the time, he had said that if the film received negative talk, he would run in his underwear at Ameerpet.
The film, starring Akhil and Tejaswi Rao in the lead roles and produced by Venu Udugula, released on Friday and opened to positive responses across theatres. The team held a success meet on Friday evening, attended by most of the cast and crew. Speaking at the event, Saailu addressed his earlier comment. “It came in the flow, and I am sorry about it,” he said, explaining that as a new director, he sometimes struggles to express himself properly. “We new directors sometimes don’t know how to speak, so in the flow I said what I said about Ameerpet. I apologise for it.”
While apologising, Saailu still referenced Ameerpet junction — this time with a lighter twist. “I will perform with a band at that place. From outside, we will have the performance, and from inside the theatre, the film’s band sound will come out,” he said.
The director turned emotional as he spoke about the effort behind the project. “It’s been hard work for a few years, and today we are very happy about the result,” he said, thanking Vamsi Nandipati, Bunny Vas, and the ETV Win team for supporting the film right from the beginning.
