‘The Thaandavam’ song from Balakrishna starrer Akhanda 2 carries a spiritual fervour

Thaman S is the music composer for Akhanda 2, that will hit theatres on December 5

The first single of Balakrishna-starrer Akhanda 2 was unveiled on Friday at a grand ceremony held in Mumbai. The song, titled ‘Thaandavam song’ is sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Kailash Kher.

Composed by Thaman S, ‘Thaandavam Song’ is a highly energetic composition laced with heavy elements of spirituality. Thaman S brings his quitessentially thunderous beats to the song that’s further elevated by the incorporation of religious chants that underline the spiritual element of the song. The grandiosity of the number is further elevated by the use of grand chorus vocals, with more than 50 vocalists part of the background vocal section. Kalyan Chakravarthy has penned the lyrics for the song. 

By the looks of it, a large part of Akhanda 2, like the ‘Thaandavam song’ is set in exteriors, admist the Himalayan mountains. Written and directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda 2 also stars Samyuktha. More details about the ensemble cast are yet to be officially announced. Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta are producing the film under 14 Reels Plus banner. The cinematography is jointly helmed by C Ramprasad and Santossh D Detakae. AS Prakash is the art director, and Tammiraju is the editor.

Marking the fourth collaboration between Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda 2 is set to arrive on December 5, clashing against Sharwanand starrer Biker which arrives on December 6.
