Rashmika Mandanna has responded to fans requesting updates on her upcoming film The Girlfriend, following the hashtag #ReleaseTheGirlfriend trending on social media. 

Taking to X (Formerly Twitter), Rashmika wrote, “Hi my lovelies. I know we’ve been making you wait and your trend really is something else. But trust me, Rahul Ravindran is really working on it to give you the best output. It’s one of the most special kinds of films. It’s a film where we speak about things we generally don’t talk much about.”

She added that the production team would aim to speed up the process following the fan response: “Because of today, for all the love you’ve shown us, we’ll just speed up the process and deliver it to you soonest.”

The Girlfriend teaser is centred on its female protagonist, played by Rashmika, capturing her multifaceted character through a series of brief glimpses.

The Girlfriend also features Dheekshith Shetty and features music by Hesham Abdul Wahab. It is produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppineedi, with cinematography by Krishnan Vasant. The film is presented by Allu Aravind. Earlier, a teaser was released on Rashmika’s birthday.
